50% OF THE RAINFOREST IS GONE SINCE SYLVESTER STALLONE AND ÅGE ALEKSANDERSEN WAS BORN
THE PROBLEM
It has taken the earth one hundred million years, yes ONE HUNDRED MILLION years, to create the rainforest and the ecosystem we all know as our home and planet.
It has taken 70 years to destroy half if it..
All living life and the air we breathe in depends, among other things, on the rainforests in order not to get into imbalance. If mother earth becomes ill, it will mean the end of everything.
The problem is that large industries and corrupt authorities cut down the rainforest without thinking of consequence. For example, Amazon is burning now. So far this year, more than 70,000 fires have been registered in Brazil, an increase of 83% from last year.
This is very dramatic – untouched rainforest is too humid to burn. Deforestation dries out the forest and makes it more exposed to the forest fire. Destruction of forests also impairs the ability of the rainforest to produce its own rain, which it is entirely dependent on to sustain itself.
There is now so much forest cut that many areas are drying out. This means that what is left of the Amazon is also getting drier and the number of forest fires has almost doubled.
The situation seems acute now, as it is, but this has been going on for a long time and not just in the Amazon.
The rainforest produces its own rain. Forests are cut to produce, among other things, palm oil, but in reality, all opportunities for plant life are destroyed. The rainforest will be turned into crisp savannas.
Save the rainforest – save the world
